President, CO ACEP
It’s been a busy and impactful legislative session, and your chapter leaders have been hard at work representing emergency physicians at the Colorado Capitol. We’ve weighed in on several key issues this year, including:
- Emergency department regulatory requirements
- Physician mental health
- Mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect
- Out-of-network claim arbitration
- Medicaid access and reimbursement
Our leadership team also had the opportunity to attend the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C., where we joined colleagues from around the country in advocating for emergency medicine on the national stage.
Here in Colorado, we’ve continued strengthening connections with members across the state—from metropolitan areas to rural communities—ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented in our advocacy and planning.
Looking ahead, we’re preparing to be even more proactive in next year’s legislative session. Our focus will include improving access to care for patients, improving payer relationships, and ensuring that emergency physicians have a seat at the table when healthcare policy is shaped. We’re also revamping how we approach political advocacy as a chapter so that we can more effectively engage lawmakers and represent our membership’s priorities. More to come!
We’re excited to announce that planning is complete for the 4th Annual CO ACEP Leadership Symposium & CME Event, which will take place November 6–7, 2025, at the Park Hyatt Resort & Spa in Beaver Creek. This event continues to grow as a meaningful gathering for leadership development, clinical education, and connection with colleagues in one of Colorado’s most stunning settings. We hope you’ll join us. We have an amazing faculty which includes not only Colorado EM leaders, but national EM leaders, coding experts and one of CO ACEP’s biggest champions in the State Senate, Senator Dylan Roberts. (A full agenda can be viewed below.)
Thank you for all that you do to serve your communities & patients and strengthen the practice of emergency medicine in Colorado.
